Development and performance of a position-sensitive proportional avalanche counter tracking system
Most of our current understanding in nuclear physics has come from using stable targets and beams. Stable nuclei represent only a small fraction of the total nuclei that can exist, but do not exhibit many of the exotic proprieties seen in nuclei far from stability, such as halos [1]. The ability to study unstable nuclei has opened up a vast new range of physics to be explored. The decay of thes...
متن کاملPosition-Position Control with Gain-Scheduling for Telesurgical Systems
Surgical teleoperation systems are being increasingly deployed. There are, however, remaining issues such as nonlinear characteristics of the interaction between the slave robot and soft tissues, and difficulty in employing force sensors in the surgical end-effectors of the slave. These issues make it difficult to offer a general approach to designing the overall control structure. This paper a...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Effect of Using Various Optics Configurations with Proportional and Position-sensitive Detectors
XRD patterns of NIST standard reference materials were collected using a gas proportional detector and a linear Position Sensitive Detector (PSD). Incident beam optics used for data collection consisted of a polycapillary X-ray lens, a graded multilayer parabolic X-ray mirror, and programmable divergence slits. Peak position, width, and intensity were studied with respect to the different exper...
متن کاملCvd-diamond-based Position Sensitive Photoconductive Detector for High-flux X-rays and Gamma Rays
A position-sensitive photoconductive detector (PSPCD) using insulating-type CVD diamond as its substrate material has been developed at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). Several different configurations, including a quadrant pattern for a x-ray-transmitting beam position monitor (TBPM) and 1-D and 2-D arrays for PSPCD beam profilers, have been developed. Tests on different PSPCD devices with hi...
متن کاملThe C.A.T. Pixel Proportional Gas Counter Detector
A simple geometry of real pixel gas detectors has been evaluated that circumvents the limitations of a microstrips, namely aging, gain drift and flux limitation due to the dielectric charging. A good resolution has been obtained while preserving a large active size and a high gain and counting rate capabilities.
